  • Discuss the importance of a mentorship and a succession plan for a health organization.
  • Discuss the barriers in establishing a mentoring program in health organizations regarding gender, ethnicity, age, and race, and include methods to reduce those barriers.
  • Develop a mentorship program that includes the following steps:
    • Defining clear strategic goals
    • Careful selection of mentors
    • Confidentiality
    • Training of mentors
    • Politically correct mentors
    • Committed to the long-term role of being a mentor
  • Develop a succession plan for a health care organization to include a mentorship program, starting years before leaders are needed, and developing leaders for all levels of the organization.
  • Relate your plan to a behavioral leadership, a trait leadership, or a contingency leadership model.
  • Locate a minimum of 3 peer-reviewed articles that support your paper.
