Your second essay for English 101 will be a five paragraph essay that evaluates whether something is positive or negative based on certain criteria of your devising. This essay will incorporate ideas from ONE specific article about a topic you choose (articles and topics are provided) along with your own thoughts and experiences regarding the topic. Specific instances and examples from your experience will need to be included in the body paragraphs in order to fully develop this essay. This essay will test your ability to express your opinions clearly and rationally in essay format using the ideas and beliefs you have developed throughout your lifetime. You must argue only one side of the issue you select.
You must choose one of the following topics:
· Why is owning a pet advantageous to children?
· Why is attending a two year (community or technical) college beneficial?
· Is it better to homeschool children than to educate them in a traditional setting? Why or why not?
· Have cell phones been more of a detriment or a benefit to society? Why?
