How do the words Hardy uses to describe this disaster reveal his attitude? Does his poem center on the ship itself, its magnificence and its opulence, or on the people on board?

What about Slavitt? Does he center on the magnificence of the ship or does he center on the human attitudes towards going down in the ship.  He mentions the cold water, the cries, as well as the crowds of people, friends, servants “well fed with music”.
