the timing of paying expenses

FRANCHINSING 3/ECO

· describe “working capital.” Why is “working capital” an important factor in managing a franchise? What is the difference between “debt financing” and “equity financing”? How does Proverbs 22:7, 26-27 and 27:23–27 relate to the issues of debt, borrowing and sound money management?

· Explain why the timing of paying expenses and collecting receivables is important to cash flow management. How does a business owner/manager honor God in both the paying of obligations and the collection of invoices due?

· Review Table 12-3 and describe several ways that an effective Information System helps a franchisee manage the business. Provide a logical flow of information, to the various entities, based upon this table.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”  Col. 3.23 NIV

· How do we maintain focus & perspective as we serve the Lord in our routine business & academic effort?

Consider the issues of the individual privacy rights and the Government (starting page 511). In 2011, a law passed a U.S. House of representatives subcommittee forcing ISPs to keep logs of their customer’s private information, including credit card information, for a minimum of one year. Should this law pass the full House and Senate, your purchasing and browsing information can then be accessible to police investigating any crime and possibly attorneys in civil matters. Prepare a list of reasons why the ISPs should or should not comply with these requests. What moral dilemmas present themselves? What higher-order values and what kind of value conflicts are revealed in this list? How do you propose that we as a society resolve these dilemmas? You might conclude by applying each of the Candidate Ethical Principles described in Section 8.1.
