“For my cultural event experience, I  visited the Louvre museum. Unfortunately, the tour I took of the museum  was via their website, so I feel as though I missed out on the true  experience. That being said, I was still amazed by the whole experience  started from the sphinx that greeted me as I started the tour of the  Egyptian exhibit ranging all the way to the sarcophagi as well as  Egyptian pottery, it was all so simplistic, but not without a mystifying  level of beauty. Just seeing the sarcophagi and how detailed  and  strangely beautiful they were and comparing it to the bland wooden boxes  that we store our loved ones in after they pass away helped me to  better understand how differently Egyptians viewed death and the  afterlife. Some day I would love to be able to visit a museum in person  to experience the true beauty without a computer screen sitting in front  of me, and I would love to be able to bring my children to a museum so  that they can experience history in a way I was never able to when I was  younger.

This has nothing to do with the discussion topic, but I would like to  take a quick moment here to say thank you Professor King. When this  semester first started, I had been out of school for 9 years and hadn’t  written anything of significance in that time frame. I would like to  thank you for challenging me to try to do better every week. It has been  a tough semester for me, but thanks to your constant pointers and  constructive criticism, I feel as though I am actually starting to enjoy  writing again.”
