BA 301 – Research & Analysis of Business Problems Homework Assignment #5 – Charts and Graphs Format
• Upload to D2L. • Make sure you show your name, course number, and section number on the page. • Cite all of your data–attach bibliography.
Requirements
• Make 3 charts. You must not copy them from another source. Each must have the following for each graph: – Data table – A sentence stating what you want to show with the data – Titles on both axis – Title for Graph/Company Name – (Parenthetical) citation, lower right – Easy to read numerical increments for your axis – Data that supports your problem statement – Must be in Excel as D2L will not read any submissions from Apple software.
Directions
You should synthesize your data into your own charts, not copy other charts.
This exercise requires that you have the Data Analysis package installed for Excel. Be aware, the Mac version of Excel is not compatible with D2L. You may need to use a Windows PC. You can go to any computer lab on campus.
Look for gaps, data on competition, sales figures, and any comparable financial or other data that supports symptoms of your problem. It should be as relevant and as up to date as possible. Decide on three sets of data that would make good charts or graphs. Once you have decided what the three sets of data should show, research to find the figures. Then choose the best chart or graph to display those figures. If you need a refresher, look at the PowerPoint lecture I uploaded to Course Content in D2L (EXCEL DATA & ANALYSIS). It will help you decide how to best display the information you are trying to convey. Using excel, place the figures into a spreadsheet and prepare your visuals. Make sure I can differentiate the data, by either color or hue. Make sure you have everything clearly labeled. Below each chart/graph give me a sentence or three describing your intent.
