1. Review the section Qualities of Long-term Objectives. These also apply to short-term objectives. It is very important that you understand this section because it will be a big part of your Week 4 assignment.
Why is it important for these qualities to be so specific?
2. This chapter has really good information about how companies use different strategies to gain a competitive advantage. Do you think it is better to concentrate on one source of competitive advantage (cost versus differentiation versus speed) or to nurture all three in a firm’s operation
3. Walmart has been the king of low-cost provider. How have they been able to be successful at that strategy? Are the really always the lowest cost….they do have their guarantee….but what’s important is what people perceive…that Walmart has the lowest prices
4. It’s hard enough to gain a competitive advantage…but even harder to keep it. Once you are on top everyone is gunning for you. What are some ways you can sustain that competitive advantage
