Court of last resort: Original jurisdiction in only limited categories of cases that rarely arise—lawsuits between two states and cases involving foreign ambassadors. Appellate jurisdiction in most cases arrives from U.S. courts of appeals, state supreme courts, or Court of Military Appeals (Shea, Green, & Smith, 2011). |
