Select one of the seven “Breakthrough Innovations” highlighted by the Nielsen report. The report is located in the Supplemental Reading section of Moodle.  Perform additional research on the brand and its parent company or SBU, and answer the following questions:

  1. 1.What key strengths allowed the firm to pursue the opportunity that ultimately led to the launch of the spotlighted innovation?  Justify your analysis.  It might be helpful to review Exhibit 3.3 and related Ch. 3 material, as well as pp. 92-93 as well as Exhibit 4.4 in Ch. 4.
  2. 2.Describe the parent firm’s or SBU’s core competencies and sources of competitive advantage as it relates to the breakthrough innovation.  Which of the three competitive advantage strategies was employed in the development of that breakthrough innovation?  Make certain that you carefully review and reflect upon pp. 98-100 and Exhibit 4.8 when answering this questions.
  3. 3. The strategy canvas and four actions framework are essential to developing a firm’s strategic focus. Discuss the key factors of the strategy canvas for your selected firm and its competition.  Think through and describe how the four actions framework might have applied to help  your n the case of your selected breakthrough innovation.  Review pp. 100, 103-106.
