Demographic information

After reading/watching the assigned materials, select a short recorded speech–you can visit Ted.com to find interesting speeches. Imagine that you are speaking in the same space, with the same audience, next week. In order to elaborate your audience analysis, try to find out this information (i.e., by observing your audience, reading about Ted.com) and share it with your classmates (include link to the speech that you selected):

  • Demographic information [Gender, age range, marital status, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, group memberships, education, socioeconomic status, occupation]
  • Psychographic Analysis [Values, opinions, attitudes, and beliefs; preexisting notions about the topic and about the speaker]
  • Situational Analysis [Audience’s expectations and motivations; physical setting (size, layout room, tech. aids available, noise…]
