: Write an essay in which you include the following bulleted information. Please keep in mind that while you should do your best when you write this essay so that I get an accurate idea of your writing ability, you should not stress about any writing deficiencies you might have. This essay will be graded pass/fail; it will not be marked down for spelling, formatting, grammar, etc. This can be typed and emailed to me, or you can bring a handwritten copy to class.
Include the following:
§ Tell me about yourself: your family, interests, skills, and hobbies.
§ Tell me about your background as a student. What kind of student are you? Are there certain subjects that you love and typically do well in? Are there subjects that you struggle with? Have you been involved in extra-curricular activities in the past? What are some of your best and worst experiences in school?
§ Tell me about your background in English classes. What sorts of grades have you earned in English? Have you had good or bad English teachers? What do you like and/or dislike about English?
§ What are your goals for the future? Mention personal goals, academic goals, and career goals.
§ What should I know about you? Do you have any extenuating circumstances in your life of which I should be aware? What do I need to know about you to help you be successful in this class? What skills/abilities/strengths do you bring to the class that will help you be successful?
