Guidelines for Final Intro Psychology Project
This project is designed for you to discover more about a famous psychologist and to learn about their impact on the field of psychology.
This project is worth 150 points. This project is due Friday of Week 11, by 12:30 pm.
Directions
For this project, I would like you to pick a famous psychologist that will be the focus of your project. For ideas, please refer to the attached list of potential psychologists. You may not pick Sigmund Freud.
Once you have chosen the psychologist you would like to focus on I would like you to research the field to answer the following questions
1. Who and why – Who did you pick and why?
2. Biography – Tell me a little bit about this person’s personal life? Is there anything in their personal life that influenced their decision to be a psychologist, that influenced their work?
3. Professional Training and Education – How did they come to be a psychologist? Was/is their background in psychology or another discipline/field? If so what was/is it? Where did they study? Who did they study with? Did anyone have a significant professional influence on them?
4. Contributions and Work – What is this psychologist known for or what should they be known for? Why should we care about their work? What significance does it have in the field of psychology? Has their work influenced anyone else? If they are no longer alive, can we find traces of their work in current psychology Why or why not? If they are still alive, what are they doing now?
Formatting – Paper
Your paper should be formatted as follows:
1. Typewritten, APA Format, 10 to 12-point font, 2-4 pages (not including the Title Page and Reference Page)
2. Reference Page with 3 references (although you may include your text book as a reference, it cannot be included in the 3 references). For references look to Biographies, Journal articles, Works written by the people who are leaders in the field, Google and Google Scholar. You may use Wikipedia, but be careful. Wikipedia is a great way to familiarize yourself with a topic and as a resource for other, more scholarly references. However, use it judiciously. The majority of your references SHOULD NOT be Wikipedia.
